Along the popular food strip in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City is a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant called Casa Quesadilla. A sunny afternoon led us to this restaurant which had good reviews from other websites and blogs. Renting in a new low-rise building is this quirky restaurant with Calavera Mexican Skulls greeting you on their glass wall facade and its interiors.
There are only a few seats for customers made mostly of wooden tables and colorful plastic chairs, the vibe is definitely Mexican with its orange bright colored walls with colorful Calavera Mexican Skulls & quirky skull candle holders on their counter.
So what to try here? Of course, always order their quesadilla as the restaurant’s name itself boasts supposed to be delicious Mexican food. There are only a few dishes in their menu so it wasn’t hard to choose.
We ordered their Spinach and Chicken Quesadilla (Php 159) which is good for one but it can be for sharing as well between two people. It was grilled and sliced into four pieces with a Tartar sauce on the side. They certainly didn’t scrimp on Spinach and Chicken with Mozzarella Cheese. The Spinach wasn’t bitter and it blended well with all the stuffing of the Quesadilla. Their Fish Soft Tacos (Php125) is an open face soft tortilla with a coated fried fish fillet which has shredded lettuce, Tartar Sauce and if I’m not mistaken, a little bit of Pesto sauce sprinkled on top. It is good for one person or sharing between two people. It’s a little bit on a salty side but it was okay. It’s a bit messy to eat but eating with your fingers is how you eat a taco or quesadilla. You can order their entrees ala carte or a set meal which includes nachos and a small glass of Iced Tea. We wish though they had salsa for the nachos.
For dessert, we tried their S’mores Quesadilla (Php125) which had plenty of melted gooey marshmallows, crushed Graham Crackers, chocolate sauce on top of a soft tortilla. It’s sweet and chewy so good luck if you have dentures but it was pretty good especially for those who has a sweet tooth! Visit Zomato for their complete menu list.
Casa Quesadilla is a hip, laidback hangout for people looking for a new restaurant to try around the neighborhood. Their food is not expensive and those we’ve tried were delicious. We wish though they added Mexican and local beers to complete their menu like Dos Equis or San Miguel Beer to cap of eating their quesadillas, tacos or burritos! Nonetheless The HodgePodge Lifestyle recommends this Mexican restaurant in the city!
