The Traditional Filipino Hilot Massage at The Spa Trinoma

It’s a new year and everyone wants a fresh start so what better way to begin 2015 but with a good massage. The Spa is one of the well-known spas in Manila, albeit its higher price, the brand keeps up to its standards.

I’ve tried massages at The Spa in Eastwood, The Fort and Acropolis before but this time I decided to treat my mom for a spa afternoon at their Trinoma branch. I just learned lately that each branch had different theme.

Trinoma had a Safari theme with tents and all for their rooms. The common shower area was painted in midnight blue and installed with wooden cabinets. The inside of the shower room was done in cement and brown tiles as decor with an overhead shower while the bathroom had hinged doors that swings open.

The Filipino Hilot massage was solely done in their VIP rooms, though it wasn’t much of a room but rather tents. There are concrete walled rooms for VIP but no doors, again imitating the safari-like vibe of the outdoors. Good thing it was quiet despite having a few customers at that time to my surprise since it was a weekday afternoon.

The best thing about their Filipino Hilot massage was it was done for 75 minutes, which was just what we needed after all the holiday festivities and a cold weather vacation abroad. So this was definitely heaven sent from above for me.

The masseuse was really good and took her time kneading her hands on my back which was hurting a lot lately. One of the things that annoys me are massages done hurriedly so thank God the masseuse wasn’t rushing.

Also she placed a heating pad on my upper and lower back after massaging the area. She used it on my stomach as well so it was a welcoming additional feature since compared to other spas, they rarely use this technique. The warmth of the heating pad was very welcoming to my tired muscles.

All in all, it was worth the Php1,300 per person I spent on and I would say, I can see myself coming back here again at The Spa for their traditional Filipino Hilot massage.

Though paying that much, I can’t help but compare it to their branch in Eastwood because having the VIP room meant having a private steam and shower already unlike at their Trinoma branch, you have to use the common shower room area.

It’s a bit of a hassle since when we went there were quite a number of clients also using the area so I was simply hoping for a quieter and more private moment that afternoon. The only rooms they have with your bathtub are for those who avail body massages with treatments.

Nonetheless, The Spa still serves a great massage and service to their clients. It was definitely worth it and perfect to recharge for the new year ahead!
